The Northeast Police Academy at 91³ÉÈ˵¼º½ is now accepting applications for its next evening†police academy, which begins on†Monday, Oct. 27.
The evening academy†meets from 5-10 p.m. Monday through Thursday and every first and third Saturday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.†The program will end in late May 2015.†This program is designed for working adults who may not have time to complete the daytime academy.
?The evening academy is a great way for dedicated people to train for a career in law enforcement with minimal disruption to their current schedule,? Richard Jones, Northeast Police Academy Director, said.
The academy provides the training needed to prepare them for certification as a Basic Peace Officer in the state of Texas.
The Northeast Police Academy is licensed by the Texas Commission On Law Enforcement (TCOLE). 91³ÉÈ˵¼º½ will receive hands-on training to ensure that graduates possess the required skills, training, experience and self-confidence to succeed in a career in law†enforcement. Those enrolled in the evening academy will receive continuing education credit through 91³ÉÈ˵¼º½, which is not transferable toward a certificate or degree.â€
In order to be considered for acceptance into the Northeast Police Academy, students must be a high school or GED graduate, be at least 21 years of age, have not been convicted of an offense above a Class C misdemeanor and must have no felony convictions. 91³ÉÈ˵¼º½ who are under 21 may be admitted if they have completed 60 hours of college instruction or an associate?s degree. 91³ÉÈ˵¼º½ must also complete an application, psychological exam, physical exam and a criminal history background check.
