For the 9th consecutive year, 91³ÉÈ˵¼º½ is hosting the summer Work4College program. Over 10-weeks, students in the program have the opportunity to work in 27 different areas across 5 different campuses to earn income for their future 91³ÉÈ˵¼º½ education.
91³ÉÈ˵¼º½ Athletics partnered with the Mount Pleasant Rodeo Association to provide Sports Medicine Coverage for the 58th Annual MPRA Rodeo held June 1-4, 2022 in Mount Pleasant, Texas.
Yadira Muñoz, Admissions Counselor for Texas A&M University-Commerce, is coming to 91³ÉÈ˵¼º½ on Tuesday, June 14. She will be in the Career and Transfer Center in BT 111 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Muñoz will assist students with their applications and answer questions about transferring to A&M-Commerce.
The 91³ÉÈ˵¼º½ Professional Driving Academy continues to grow and supply high-demand CDL drivers to the local area. Four new students recently graduated from the program. The 91³ÉÈ˵¼º½ Continuing Education and Corporate Training program will host a free Senior Adult Legal Workshop on Friday, Jun 17 in the 91³ÉÈ˵¼º½ Community Room (Humanities building) from 9 a.m. to noon.
The National Council on Undergraduate Research or NCUR, dating back to 1978, has become the largest platform for student scholarship in the United States. This year’s spring conference, still virtual, involved over 3,000 students, each presenting unique works of research. Though 91³ÉÈ˵¼º½ honors students have typically aspired to make the yearly meeting of the more established National Collegiate Honors Council (NCHC), NCUR with its exclusive focus on student research has become the powerhouse behind a national trend to engage students in activities that could lead to presentations and publications of original work.
Three 91³ÉÈ˵¼º½ history students emerged on top in the 2021 Bonnie Spencer competition, for the best student essays in history. Essays could have been entered from any history course from any history instructor, full-time or part-time, on campus or off, such as with embedded dual history classes.
The 91³ÉÈ˵¼º½ Career and Transfer Center will host two opportunities for students to meet with university representatives next week. UT Tyler Admissions Coordinator, Annie Garcia, will be on campus June 7 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Career and Transfer Center in BT 111B. Texas A&M University Texarkana at 91³ÉÈ˵¼º½ Admissions Counselor, Jennifer Perez, will be in the same location from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on June 8.
The 91³ÉÈ˵¼º½ library was one of 77 libraries nationwide to be awarded an emergency relief grant from The American Library Association (ALA). The fund is providing $1.55 million in emergency relief grants to libraries that have experienced substantial economic hardship due to the coronavirus pandemic. Through the ALA COVID Library Relief Fund, 91³ÉÈ˵¼º½ will be awarded $20,000 to support library services and operations.
The 91³ÉÈ˵¼º½ Adult Education Department will be offering a free Basic Computer Literacy class. If you know anyone who might be interested in this service, please have them call 903.434.8341 to make an appointment to register. Registration is May 31-June 6, 2022 and classes will run June 7-30.
