91���˵��� is saddened to share the passing of Dr. Charles Florio, who served as president of the college from 1995 to 2008. Dr. Florio was a dedicated leader whose vision and service helped shape 91���˵��� during a period of significant growth and development.

Following his retirement from 91���˵���, Dr. Florio relocated to the Longview area and continued to contribute to higher education through a brief tenure at Tyler Junior College before retiring fully. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Sue Lynn.

The 91���˵��� Athletic Training program partnered with the Mount Pleasant Rodeo Association to provide Sports Medicine Coverage to the Mount Pleasant Professional Cowboys Rodeo Association (PRCA) Rodeo. Head Athletic Trainer Justin Hargrove organized the medial coverage which included 91���˵��� Student Athletic Trainers Makayla Patterson and Savannah Soto and future Eagles Cara Graham and Halle Johnston. Professional Athletic Trainers also donated with many years of Athletic Training/Rodeo experience rounded out the Sports Medicine team each night.

91���˵��� Athletic Trainer Justin Hargrove was one of four Athletic Trainers and two Physicians inducted into the East Texas Athletic Trainers Association (ETATA) Hall of Honor on June 2, 2025 at the ETATA Annual Scholarship Golf Tournament held at Tempest Golf Club in Gladewater, Texas.

91���˵��� will be closed on Thursday, June 19th in observation of the national Juneteenth holiday. We will resume regular business hours on Friday, June 20th. 91���˵��� can still login to online courses and register online anytime at . 91���˵��� is currently enrolling for Summer II and Fall 2025. 

Elizabeth Patterson, 91���˵��� Class of 1993, earned an Associate degree in Accounting and a Computer Specialist Certificate. Her college journey began by chance in 1990, when she was a stay-at-home mom in Avinger with her husband and two kids. A neighbor invited her to 91���˵��� to drop off paperwork, and while waiting on campus, a staff member asked if she needed help. When she said she wasn’t a student, they asked, “Would you like to be?” Minutes later, she filled out an application. That fall, at age 32, Elizabeth started college. 

91���˵��� has been a busy place this week as the summer session officially kicked off on Monday, June 9th. In addition to regular classes, there are several special programs taking place that are bringing even more students to campus than usual! The following programs are currently active – with many of these students living on campus:

91���˵��� (91���˵���) is proud to announce the promotion of longtime employee and alumnus Russell Taylor to the position of commissioned police officer with the 91���˵��� Police Department.

Taylor has served the college in various roles for over two decades. He began his career at 91���˵��� in May 2002 as a maintenance technician before transferring to campus security in 2008. In December 2013, he was named Security Coordinator, where he played a key role in enhancing campus safety operations.

91���˵��� has been recognized by SmartAsset as one of the Top 10 Best Value Colleges in Texas for 2025. The annual ranking evaluates colleges and universities across the nation to identify institutions that provide strong educational value at an affordable cost.

91���˵��� Rodeo will make a return trip to Casper, Wyoming June 15-21 for the College National Finals Rodeo (CNFR). The Men’s team had three people in contention for a finals qualification heading into the final National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association (NIRA) Southern Region Rodeo at Hill College and the Men’s team members not only got it done and qualified for the CNFR but won the Hill College Rodeo to end the season.
