For the 10^th year in a row, members of Honors Northeast, the honors program at 91³ÉÈ˵¼º½, have presented scholarly work at the annual meeting of the National Collegiate Honors Council (NCHC).

Dr. Ron Clinton has been named the sole†finalist to become the next president of 91³ÉÈ˵¼º½. The 91³ÉÈ˵¼º½ Board of Trustees voted to move forward with hiring Clinton for the post at a special-called board meeting Wednesday night. He has served as interim president of the college since October†1.

State law requires the college to give a 21-day notice of announcing a sole†finalist before appointing a new president.

?It is a unanimous decision for the board to hire Dr. Clinton.

Theatre Northeast, the student theatre group of 91³ÉÈ˵¼º½, will present its annual Children?s Play December 2 and 3 at the Whatley Center for the Performing Arts. This year?s production is Once Upon a Wolf by Steph DeFerie.

This fast and furious collection of fractured fairy tales with a modern twist tells what happens when the Big Bad Wolf decides he doesn't want to be big or bad anymore! Old Granny Stinkyfeet is just trying to tell the kiddies some stories but she's having trouble with the Wolf. He won't eat her like he's supposed to!

Future Plans: After graduating from 91³ÉÈ˵¼º½, Brenda plans to transfer to Texas A&M University in College Station in the fall of 2018 to pursue a bachelor?s degree.

The Whatley Center for the Performing Arts at 91³ÉÈ˵¼º½ is pleased to present a holiday performance by The Celtic Tenors Monday, Dec. 11 at 7:30 p.m. This festive show, sponsored by Cypress Bank, is sure to get you into the spirit of the season as they deliver some of your favorite holiday songs in their innovative style.

The Celtic Tenors have established themselves as the most successful classical crossover artists ever to emerge from Ireland.

Quilts by local quilters hang in the Whatley Center foyer in what is now an annual tradition for the 91³ÉÈ˵¼º½ art department.† For the second consecutive year, quilters bring their treasured quilts to share with the community. The exhibit runs from Monday, Nov. 6 through Wednesday, Nov. 29. A reception is scheduled for Wednesday, November 15 at 12:30 p.m. in the Whatley Center foyer, and refreshments will be served.

Seven quilters brought 25 quilts for this exhibit, which is titled†Beyond the Rail Fence.

Early fall-winter forage production is particularly valuable as it allows flexibility for earlier grazing or increased stockpiling. The goal of the Noble Research Institute?s small grains breeding program is to develop cultivars with improved forage qualities, better fall production, improved ability to recover after grazing and better overall forage yields. Come see six of the new small grain varieties, selected for increased early season forage yields, recently released by the Noble Research Institute

Thomas and April Bliss recently presented the 91³ÉÈ˵¼º½ Foundation with $2,000 to establish two scholarships. The Sharon Bliss Memorial scholarship is in memory of Thomas? mother,†who had a long career as a respiratory therapist.†This scholarship†will benefit a student studying health sciences at 91³ÉÈ˵¼º½. The Bradyn Dawn Loy Memorial Scholarship†was established†in memory of the Mount Vernon High School student and friend of the Bliss family who passed away last year.

The 91³ÉÈ˵¼º½ Associate?s Degree Nursing (ADN) Program recently learned that it achieved a passing rate of 89.1 percent on the NCLEX board of nursing exam. This marked a significant improvement†over the last three testing years†and moved the program from conditional status back into full approval with the Texas Board of Nursing.

?We are exceptionally proud of our ADN nursing faculty and students. Not only did they achieve their goal ?

The Communities In Schools group is coordinating †?CIS DAY?†to raise funds to support the CIS Believes In Dreams Christmas Project and other CIS activities and services.† Last year with this project, we served over 1,400 students and their siblings for Christmas and the numbers will be even higher this year.
