PTK wins Jenzabar grant, presents at conference

Alpha Mu Chi, the Northeast鈥燭exas Community College chapter of Phi Theta Kappa, was recently honored at the Jenzabar Annual Meeting at the Gaylord Texan in Grapevine. The 91成人导航 chapter was one of only seven groups鈥爎ecognized at鈥爐he meeting鈥爓ho received the Student Leadership Award,鈥爂iven out each year by the Jenzabar Foundation. The award came with a $5,000 grant and the club was invited鈥爐o be part of a poster presentation at the meeting to showcase its efforts and activities.鈥

June 2 Construction Update


? Phase 2 of the construction project was approved by the 91成人导航 Board in May, giving the go-ahead for construction to continue

? The Humanities building, downstairs of UHS, and Phase 1 of the LRC are the first projects scheduled to begin (possibly as soon as next week)

? There is one lane allowing traffic to access the western side of campus (Shelby, Criminal Justice, etc.)

? The main plaza of the campus will redone as part of Phase 2, which will limit access to the core buildings

91成人导航 and Texas A&M University-Texarkana officials signed an articulation agreement today at 91成人导航, formalizing a partnership benefiting students who wish to attain baccalaureate degrees.

The agreement creates a seamless transition for students enrolled in鈥91成人导航?s鈥燩hysical Therapist Assistant, Occupational Therapist Assistant, Community Health and Funeral Services programs to transfer to Texas A&M University-Texarkana?s Bachelor of Applied Arts and Sciences program.

The funds will be used to sponsor a Presidential Scholar in Honors Northeast, 91成人导航?s nationally-recognized honors program. The Titus County Literacy Advisory Council recently honored six deserving鈥燝eneral Equivalency Diploma (GED) students from Northeast Texas Community鈥燙ollege by inducting them into the National Adult Education Honor Society鈥(NAEHS).鈥燭hose inducted were: (from left): Brandy Moss of Winnsboro, Angie Turnbow of Daingerfield, Carlos Landaverde of Pittsburg,鈥燙alvin Henry of Pittsburg,鈥燘rillana Rosas of Mount Pleasant and Emily Smith of Pittsburg.

Two 91成人导航 students win prestigious Jack Kent Cooke Foundation Scholarship

91成人导航 Presidential Scholars, Jessica Velazquez of Mount Vernon and Angelica Fuentes of Mount Pleasant were recently awarded Jack Kent Cooke Foundation Undergraduate Transfer Scholarships. These prestigious awards cover up to $40,000鈥燼nnually at a university of the student?s choice for up to three鈥爕ears. Only鈥75 students were selected from more than 2,000 top applicants in a very competitive process for this national honor.
