91���˵��� recently announced that its library has been renamed the Charlie and Helen Hampton Learning Resource Center (LRC). The 91���˵��� Board of Trustees voted unanimously to approve the new building name in their April board meeting. This is the first name change in a recently-launched fundraising/naming campaign by the 91���˵��� Foundation. The naming campaign comes as the campus interior undergoes a major transformation.

Helen Hampton and her late husband, Charlie, of Naples, are longtime friends of 91���˵���.

Kassandra V. Martinez, a 91���˵��� Honors Scholar, and Tanika Santos, a member of the 91���˵��� Women?s Soccer Team have become the first winners of the Bonnie Spencer Awards for superior essays in history.† Spencer, an alumna of Northeast, and the leader of 91���˵���?s first history club in 2003, established the fund that awards the prizes. She also read the submissions, and helped select the winners.

The 91���˵��� Continuing Education Department is planning a variety of fun courses for kids ages 8-15 this summer. Registration is now open for the iCan Kids Discovery College, which will be held in two sessions.

91���˵��� held its ninth†annual McGraw-Hill Poster contest Friday, April 29. The event was held in the foyer of the Whatley Center for the Performing Arts and featured research by 20 of 91���˵���?s most decorated scholars. The contest has become an annual test of creative research in Northeast Texas, funded in part by the McGraw-Hill Corporation, and judged by friends of the college, and Honors Northeast.
