Elizabeth H. Whatley leaves behind lasting legacy at 91³ÉÈ˵¼º½

91³ÉÈ˵¼º½ lost a long time friend this week as Mrs. Elizabeth H. Whatley passed away at the age of 89. Services for Mrs. Whatley will be held Saturday, April 9 at 10:30 a.m. in Longview at the mausoleum at Rosewood Park.

?Mrs. Whatley and her husband James loved 91³ÉÈ˵¼º½. I am so glad that she got to experience the impact she had on our college first hand before she passed away. The Whatleys truly left a legacy that will live on for many†generations to come,? Dr.

The ninth annual McGraw-Hill Poster Contest is set for Friday, April 29 at 9:30 a.m. in the foyer of the Whatley Center for the Performing Arts at 91³ÉÈ˵¼º½. This contest recognizes and rewards creative student scholarship in Northeast Texas. Area high school seniors, college and university students are welcome to compete. The first place prize is $400 with an added McGraw-Hill textbook coupon for $150. Second place will receive $300, third place $200 and fourth $100.

Honors Northeast brings home top prizes from TSHA meeting

Northeast†Texas Community College Honors scholars†walked away from the 2016 March meeting of the Webb auxiliary of the Texas State Historical Association with a total of five cash prizes - more than ever before in the history of 91³ÉÈ˵¼º½.

The most unprecedented win was Presidential Scholar, Hector Zuniga?s first-place ($400) prize for his 15-page essay on former Texas Governor, William Hobby. Though 91³ÉÈ˵¼º½?s Carlos Mendez, and Noah Griffin have won first place Caldwells before on the state level, Zuniga won in the senior division, among those with 60 hours or more.

Team Arise and Raw Iron Gyms recently teamed up to give $1,000 to the 91³ÉÈ˵¼º½ Foundation. † † † Beth Thompson loved 91³ÉÈ˵¼º½. Her husband, with the help of family and friends, plans to keep her legacy alive at the institution through a scholarship in her memory. The Margaret Beth Reudelhuber Thompson Memorial Scholarship for Women in Accounting and Business was recently established with the 91³ÉÈ˵¼º½ Foundation.
