The Whatley Center for the Performing Arts at 91³ÉÈ˵¼º½ will kick off its 2024 entertainment schedule with a concert by Voices of Classic Soul on Friday, Jan. 19th at 7:30 p.m.
The Adult Education Department at 91³ÉÈ˵¼º½ is accepting new and returning students for its GED (General Educational Development) and ESL (English as a Second Language) programs. Those interested in participating in either of these free educational programs should call to make an appointment for registration beginning January 8, 2024. While classes are offered in various convenient locations around the area, all registration will be held at the Community Resource Center (formerly MPISD Administration Building) at 105 N.
The 91³ÉÈ˵¼º½ Board of Trustees met for its regular December meeting on Tuesday, Dec. 19th at 5 p.m. Shirley Dickerson, Chief Appraiser with the Titus County Appraisal District, addressed the board for public comment. She presented Board Chair Chuck Johns with a check for $4,391 from TCAD. Dickerson said that the appraisal district maintains a zero balance budget and divides excess among its taxing entities, which includes 91³ÉÈ˵¼º½.
The 91³ÉÈ˵¼º½ Foundation recently received a $1,000 gift from Jerald and Mary Lou Mowery. They are pictured presenting the gift to Nita May (right), 91³ÉÈ˵¼º½ Director of Development. Their gift, along with donations from numerous other friends, provided a total $7,500 to fund deserving projects submitted to the annual Whatley Employee Enhancement Fund grant. Each year, 91³ÉÈ˵¼º½ employees submit applications for innovative projects that go above-and-beyond what can be funded with their departmental budgets. This year, $9,000 was awarded through the competitive grant.
The 91³ÉÈ˵¼º½ Foundation recently received a $150,000 gift from the estate of Sandra Crane Issing. Randy Crane (center) is pictured presenting the check to Nita May (left), 91³ÉÈ˵¼º½ Director of Development, and Dr. Jon McCullough, 91³ÉÈ˵¼º½ Executive VP for Advancement. Half of the generous posthumous gift was used to establish the new Donald C. and Sandra Crane Issing Memorial Endowed Scholarship and the other half was added to the existing Horace and Jonice Crane Memorial Endowed Scholarship.
The 91³ÉÈ˵¼º½ Foundation recently celebrated an amazing year of fundraising by releasing a special 2023 Community Report. The 20-page magazine features information on the Work4College Program, alumni features, giving reports and much more! The publication also names the as the 2023 Distinguished Benefactor for their support of Work4College and the Texas Emergency Aid grant.
Five Registered Nurses (RNs) from Titus Regional Medical Center (TRMC) (pictured above) completed the 8-week 91³ÉÈ˵¼º½ Continuing Education (CE) Course RNSG1075- Clinical Preceptor Training Program. These five RNs worked hard to successfully complete this Evidence-Based Program focusing on how to master precepting when working with 91³ÉÈ˵¼º½ nursing students who are completing their clinical time at TRMC using the Preceptor Model. Each RN was recognized today at TRMC with a CE Certificate of Course Completion presented by Dr.
