91³ÉÈ˵¼º½ held its annual Work4College Scholarship lunch on Wednesday, Aug. 3 on the 91³ÉÈ˵¼º½ campus. The event, which brought together more than 200 students, supervisors and donors, was the culmination of the summer scholarship program. It was sponsored by Mr. and Mrs. Richard Perryman, who are longtime supporters of 91³ÉÈ˵¼º½.

The two top winners of the 2022 McGraw Hill Poster Contest at the Whatley Foyer in May received a free trip, ticket and lunch, 28 July, to the Texas Shakespeare Festival in Kilgore, Texas. Together with Honors Director Dr. Andrew Yox, Skylar Fondren, and Victor Diaz saw Shakespeare’s The Taming of the Shrew in an afternoon production.

On Sunday, 7 August at 3 p.m., Samuel Anderson Pollan will feature works of Johann Sebastian Bach, and other classics of the literature for pipe organ at the First United Methodist Church of Pittsburg. The church is located at 109 College Street. The public is invited, and admission is free. Refreshments will be served after the recital.

Since 2008, the honors program of 91³ÉÈ˵¼º½ has published a biannual newsletter. The recently released 2022 summer edition can be accessed by clicking here. The current newsletter provides a summary of student successes in the spring of 2022, including Aaliyah Avellaneda’s winning of one of the 100 Jack Kent Cooke scholarships in the nation.
Jordan Chapin and Raul Leija recently won scholarships at the Phi Theta Kappa Texas Honors Institute, which ended July 17. 91³ÉÈ˵¼º½ receiving the STAR scholarships from Phi Theta Kappa must have demonstrated academic and leadership promise. Phi Theta Kappa members from any community college in the state of Texas are eligible for the award.
