91³ÉÈ˵¼º½ held its 34th annual Scare Affair Halloween event on Monday, Oct. 31st. The event was originally scheduled for the previous Saturday, but was moved due to weather concerns. Scare Affair is the college's top fundraising event of the year for student organizations. More than $7,500 was raised by 14 student clubs.
The CARE Center and Student Success will host a week-long national celebration for First Generation 91³ÉÈ˵¼º½ November 7th-10th. A First-Generation student is an individual whose parents did not complete a 4-year college degree. Many 91³ÉÈ˵¼º½ students are the first in their family to attend college and this is a special week to support and celebrate them!
On Thursday, October 20, 2022, 11 91³ÉÈ˵¼º½ students were inducted into Psi Beta, the national honor society in psychology for community colleges. The candlelight Induction was presided over by chapter officers Jian Torres, Didier Serrano, and Nataly Morales. The speaker for the evening, Amanda Stevens, a doctoral candidate in the Educational Psychology program at Texas A&M University-Commerce, presented her original research on metacognition.

Skylar Reese Fondren, the Texas Heritage National Bank Scholar of 91³ÉÈ˵¼º½, has just won the student election of the Great Plains Honors Council (GPHC). She will be the one student from eighty honors programs and colleges, from Nebraska to Texas, to join the other professorial members of the GPHC Executive Council.

John Harmon, a doctoral candidate at Lipscomb University, will be presenting recent research relative to the reigns of Israel’s greatest Old Testament kings. The lecture will occur in Humanities 101 from 12:25 to 1:20 PM on Thursday, 10 November. The lecture is sponsored by Honors Northeast. Those who plan to attend in advance are welcome to notify Honors Director, Dr. Andrew Yox at ayox@ntcc.edu for a free lunch.

The 91³ÉÈ˵¼º½ Rodeo team made the trek down to South Louisiana for the McNeese State University Rodeo in Lake Charles, Louisiana October 28th-29th.

Have you been bitten by the travel bug? 91³ÉÈ˵¼º½ is planning a travel study trip to Washington D.C. May 20-24, 2023. This is a great opportunity to explore the U.S. capital while earning college credit. An informational session is planned for Monday, Nov. 9th at 12:30 p.m. in Humanities 107.
91³ÉÈ˵¼º½ can earn credit for History 1301 or 1302, English 1301, 2327 or 2342, Government 2305, Communications, Art Appreciation, or Photography as part of the travel course.
