The Preston Currey Family, of Hughes Springs, recently gave $10,000 to establish the Joyce Ellison Currey Memorial Scholarship at 91³ÉÈ˵¼º½. The perpetual scholarship will be used to provide financial assistance to students majoring in nursing at 91³ÉÈ˵¼º½. Joyce Ellison Currey was a nurse at Titus Regional Medical Center for decades and spent her career lovingly caring for patients and mentoring the next generation of nurses.

Guitarist Andrew Daniel and violinist Mark Miller will perform†Songs and Dances of the Americas†at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, April 15 in the Whatley Center for the Performing Arts.†The program includes†History of the Tango†by Piazzolla and†Mountain Songs†by Robert Beaser.

Brenda Godoy, a student at 91³ÉÈ˵¼º½, has received two of the nation?s top scholarships recognizing outstanding academic achievement among college students. Godoy is one of 20 students to be named to the All?USA Academic Team and will receive a $5,000 scholarship. The All?USA program is widely recognized as the most prestigious academic honor for students attending associate degree-granting institutions.

91³ÉÈ˵¼º½ was well represented at the recent meeting of the Texas Webb Society in San Marcos. Honors Northeast Scholars won two of the four freshman-sophomore division awards for scholarship.† Jazmin Garcia of Mount Pleasant placed third in the state, and won $150 for her essay on Texas First Lady, Mildred Moody.†Rhylie Anderson?s essay placed fourth.†She received $75 for her essay on the ?Politics of Futility,?

Alpha Mu Chi, the 91³ÉÈ˵¼º½ Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa, will host a murder mystery dinner on Saturday, April 14 at 6:30 p.m. Funds raised help the chapter and its members attend conferences, present workshops, and engage in activities which allow it to maintain its Five Star status. Tickets may be purchased online at or from any chapter officer.

Texas A&M University-Texarkana is hosting a PLACE lecture on our campus, presented by our very own Kenneth Irizarry. The topic will be 3D Printers for Rapid Prototyping and the event will be held April 10 during the activity period. Hope to see you there!

Alpha Mu Chi, 91³ÉÈ˵¼º½?s chapter of Phi Theta Kappa, recently attended the Texas Regional Convention in Houston and came away with a chapter-record 30 awards.
