The Mount Pleasant Fine Arts Club recently gave $500 to support the Work Scholarship Program at 91³ÉÈ˵¼º½. The gift, which is in addition to their annual scholarship, will be matched by two grants for a total impact of $1,500. The 2018 issue of†°Õ´Ç³Ü³¦³ó²õ³Ù´Ç²Ô±ð,†the collegiate journal of the Texas State Historical Association released this spring, contains two essays by current 91³ÉÈ˵¼º½ Presidential Scholars. This is now the fourth year in a row that 91³ÉÈ˵¼º½ scholars nudged out leading submissions from students in other colleges and universities in Texas to be published in the prestigious collegiate journal.

The 91³ÉÈ˵¼º½ Associate Degree Nursing program recently inducted 32 students into its Gamma Omicron Chapter of the Alpha Delta Nu Honor Society. Alpha Delta Nu recognizes the academic excellence of students in the study of Associate Degree Nursing. The selective society requires that students have at least a 3.0 GPA in nursing classes and be recommended by faculty. The 2018 inductees are pictured above (from left). This summer, Reyna Stephanie Soto from Daingerfield will join outstanding college students and professionals from across the nation to take part in a unique academic and career-oriented development experience, International Scholar Laureate Program in Sydney, Brisbane, and Cairns, Australia.

The International Scholar Laureate Program is one of the Envision family of programs (www.envisionexperience.com) that enable students to explore their interests and experience learning beyond the classroom.

Many thanks to everyone who supported the 91³ÉÈ˵¼º½ Foundation on East Texas Giving Day on April 24. Thanks to the generosity of friends and 91³ÉÈ˵¼º½ employees, more than 80 donations were received for a total of $14,647.19 during the event. Another generous donor gave after the deadline to make an even $15,000 raised. This more than doubled the amount raised in 2017. These funds will go a long way to providing scholarships and special projects for student organizations and additional donations continue to pour in.

Alicia Cantrell and Brenda Godoy, students at 91³ÉÈ˵¼º½, are two of just 47 recipients of the Jack Kent Cooke Foundation?s prestigious Undergraduate Transfer Scholarship. This highly competitive national scholarship will provide these two local recipients with up to $40,000 annually for a maximum of three years to complete their bachelor?s degrees.

Nearly 2,500 students applied for the Cooke Undergraduate Transfer Scholarship this year.

The 91³ÉÈ˵¼º½ Art Department recently held its annual Student Art Show in the foyer of the Whatley Center for the Performing Arts. 91³ÉÈ˵¼º½ submitted their best work in a variety of media. The contest was open to all 91³ÉÈ˵¼º½ students, not just those enrolled in art classes.

?We have some phenomenally talented students at 91³ÉÈ˵¼º½. I am so proud of the work they contributed to the show,?
