The first week of classes can be a stressful time. To help alleviate this stress, and to encourage students to meet new people, we have planned a Welcome Back Social for students, faculty and staff.
Filing for 91³ÉÈ˵¼º½ board places begins January 17
Filing for Place Three, Place Four and Place Seven on the 91³ÉÈ˵¼º½ Board of Trustees will begin on Wednesday, January 17, 2018, and continues through 5 p.m., Friday, February 16, 2018. Filing applications are available from elections clerk Maria Razo in the 91³ÉÈ˵¼º½ Executive Offices from 8:30 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on Fridays.†The deadline for filing an application will be extended to 5:00 p.m.
A Cappella Choir of Wiley College to perform at the Whatley Center
The Whatley Center for Performing Arts at 91³ÉÈ˵¼º½ will host a concert by the A Cappella Choir of Wiley College Sunday, January 21 at 2:30 p.m.

Joe and Sue Sandlin give $2,000 to 91³ÉÈ˵¼º½ Work Scholarship Program
Joe and Sue Sandlin recently gave $2,000 to sponsor a student in†the Work Scholarship Program at 91³ÉÈ˵¼º½. The gift will be matched by a grant program, doubling the amount to $4,000. Adult Education accepting new GED, ESL students
The Adult Education Department at 91³ÉÈ˵¼º½ is accepting new†and returning†students for its GED (General Educational Development) and ESL (English as a Second Language) programs. Those interested in participating in either of these free educational programs†should call to make an appointment for registration†and/or testing.†While classes are offered in various convenient locations around the area, all registration will be held at the Community Resource Center (formerly MPISD Administration Building) at†105†N. Riddle Street in Mount Pleasant.
Representative Gary VanDeaver visits Communities In Schools
Tuesday night Communities In Schools (CIS) of Northeast Texas hosted Texas State Representative Dr. Gary VanDeaver. He toured the program?s Believes In Dreams Angel Store in Mount Vernon and met with several CIS volunteers and community†members. He took a special interest in how CIS helps area at-risk high school seniors figure out an after-graduation plan through the CAPPED program. Jerald and Mary Lou Mowery give $2,000 for special 91³ÉÈ˵¼º½ projects
Jerald and Mary Lou Mowery recently gave $2,000 to support special projects at 91³ÉÈ˵¼º½. The gift will help Honors Northeast sponsor the 2018 McGraw-Hill Poster Contest and it will also support next year?s Honors film project. Richard and Margaret Perryman recently gave $2,750 to support the 91³ÉÈ˵¼º½ Work Scholarship Program. Specifically, they sponsored a luncheon that is held at the end of each summer to recognize work scholarship students, supervisors and donors. Al and Sue Havenstrite recently gave $5,000 to support scholarships at 91³ÉÈ˵¼º½. All funds given to scholarship endowments will be matched dollar-for-dollar through the Title V grant program, doubling the contribution.
