The Texas Association for Literacy and Adult Education recently lauded a 91³ÉÈ˵¼º½ Adult Education Student, Jose Martinez, and an instructor Jaudon Wilhite, with two separate but distinctive honors.† Martinez, an 91³ÉÈ˵¼º½ ESL (English as a Second Language) student from Mount Pleasant has received the Texas Association for Literacy and Adult Education (TALAE) ESL Persistence Award.† This statewide honor is awarded to students who exhibit personal accountability and commitment to pursuing their education while maintaining their family and civic responsibilities.† A cash award

AEP/SWEPCO recently gave $1,000 to sponsor the upcoming Engineer Roundtable at 91³ÉÈ˵¼º½. The Fourth Annual Engineering Roundtable is scheduled for Friday, Feb. 17.

The 91³ÉÈ˵¼º½ Eagles Baseball and Softball teams have kicked off their spring seasons. Eagles Softball won their season opener against North Central Texas College 9-6 Saturday. The Eagles defeated NCTC 9-6 on Saturday.

The Eagles collected 11 hits and NCTC 8. Kymber Green earned the win for 91³ÉÈ˵¼º½.† She pitched four innings, giving up one run, two hits, and striking out two.† Morgan Robinson started the game for 91³ÉÈ˵¼º½, she pitched three innings, giving up five runs, and six hits.

Linda Lucas Hardy is proof that fine art can be found right here in Northeast Texas. The prolific oil painter and color pencil artist from Omaha has been published in more than 20 magazines and a dozen books.

The Whatley Center for the Performing Arts at 91³ÉÈ˵¼º½ recently received a $3,000 donation from J.T. and Kaye Brison. The Brisons are pictured with Carolyn Franks, Director of the Whatley Center (left). The funds were used to sponsor the performance of Restless Heart on Friday, February 10. The concert begins at 7:30 p.m. and limited tickets are still available by calling the Whatley Box Office at 903-434-8181. Seats are $30 for adults and $10 for 91³ÉÈ˵¼º½ students and children 17 and under.

91³ÉÈ˵¼º½ and faculty in the Honors Program at 91³ÉÈ˵¼º½ recently participated in their Spring 2017 Honors Trip. The group traveled to Dallas, where they visited North Park Center, the Perot Museum, the Nasher Sclupture Center, Fuddrucker?s Restaurant and the Granville Theatre in Garland to see a performance of Tantalus. This is the 20^th semester trip the group has taken since 2008.

The 91³ÉÈ˵¼º½ College Store is asking for help from the campus and community to help make homemade Valentine's Day cards for area seniors.

The College Store plans to deliver all valentine cards received to local nursing homes. †Their hope is to receive enough cards to provide valentine cards for all residents to receive a card at one nursing home in each of our three counties. Prizes will be awarded for the best cards in both the child and adult categories.
