Mark your calendars for a wonderful opportunity to learn more about Choctaw history and culture from tribal member Ryan Spring and Tribal Archaeologist Dr. Kim Hinson. The event will be held Tuesday, Nov. 15th from 12:30-1:30 in Humanities 101. A taste of Tanchi Labona, a traditional Choctaw dish, will be provided as well. Question and answer session after presentation. Faculty, staff, students, and members of the community are welcome!

91���˵��� hosted the third National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association (NIRA) Southern Region Rodeo October 21-22 at the Mount Pleasant Rodeo Association Arena.

The 91���˵��� Men’s Soccer team defeated Paris Junior College 5-0 on Saturday, October 22nd to earn a trip to the National Junior College Athletic Association playoffs. Goalie Enzo Camps (France) came up big with 7 saves in the win.

The Whatley Center for the Performing Arts at 91���˵��� will host a performance by on Tuesday, Nov. 1 at 7:30 p.m.

“When I first heard Hot Club of Cowtown I just knew we had to host them at the Whatley,” Carolyn Franks, Director of the Whatley Center, said. “They are fantastically talented musicians and they blend a variety of genres to create something completely fun and unique.”

The 91���˵��� CARE team, along with Student Success, will be presenting at the 10th Annual First Gen Summit, MIT, Boston, MA , on November 5th.  The First Gen Summit serves as a site for the meeting of the minds. First-gen students and their allies come together to identify problems, discuss grassroots solutions, and share what’s working on their campuses. The focus is on finding solutions identified by students who can work with their staff, administrator, and faculty allies to create change.  

The 91���˵��� Foundation held its annual Golf Classic on October 17th at Princedale Country Club in Pittsburg. The tournament raised over $10,000 to support the 91���˵��� Work4College Program.

91���˵��� hosted its annual college fair on Thursday, Oct. 20th in the Student Union Building. The event brought representatives from more than 20 universities to campus to meet with prospective transfer students. 

91���˵��� student, Ian Griffin, held a signing for his debut novel Birth of A Spy Couple on Thursday, Oct. 20 in the Student Union Building. Griffin served in the United States Army for 31 years. During this time, he lived in Germany for nine years. Living in Germany gave him a unique perspective of Germany and its culture. He has incorporated his experiences and observations into spinning a yarn that encompasses the characters of Rick and Katja.

The National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association (NIRA) Southern Region will have the third rodeo of the 2022-2023 season in Mount Pleasant, Texas October 21st and 22nd. 91���˵��� (91���˵���) will be the host of the Rodeo held at the Mount Pleasant Rodeo Association Arena located on Greenhill Road in Mount Pleasant, Texas.

The Mount Pleasant Economic Development Corporation (MPEDC) recently presented 91���˵��� with a check for $25,000. This is a repeated initiative between MPEDC and 91���˵���. The funds, like before, are being used to provide scholarships to assist residents of Mount Pleasant and Titus County with tuition for 91���˵���’s Professional Driving Academy.
