The 91³ÉÈ˵¼º½ Eagles fell 7-6 to the Galveston College Whitecaps Sunday night in game four of the Region XIV Tournament.

The game was late getting started and continued on into Monday morning after game three went 13 innings. Despite being the higher seed, 91³ÉÈ˵¼º½ was unable to combat Galveston?s strong hitting.

?We didn?t get big hits when we needed to and Galveston did.

Baseball fans got their money?s worth in game three of the NJCAA Region XIV Baseball Tournament as San Jacinto College narrowly beat Paris Junior College 5-4 after 13 innings of play.

San Jacinto and Paris traded runs in the first inning, putting the score at 1-1. No runs were scored through the second to the top of the fourth.

The Blinn Buccaneers earned a place in the winner?s bracket Sunday afternoon as they came from behind to beat Texarkana College 11-6 in game two of the NJCAA Region XIV Baseball Tournament at 91³ÉÈ˵¼º½ in Mount Pleasant.

Texarkana jumped out to an early 3-0 lead in the top of the second. Texarkana added another two in the third and one more in the top of the fourth.

After being delayed for a day due to rain, the NJCAA Region XIV Baseball Tournament kicked off on Sunday morning at 91³ÉÈ˵¼º½ in Mount Pleasant. Navarro College defeated Alvin Community College 5-0 in the first match up.

Navarro?s Chad Young pitched nine innings for the win, allowing no runs on four hits and an impressive 13 strikeouts.

Navarro?s offense was led by Brode Boyd?s hitting. He went 2-4, drove in one and scored one run.

The Region XIV Baseball Tournament has been postponed due to rain. Games are planned to begin on Sunday, May 13.

91³ÉÈ˵¼º½ held its spring 2012 commencement at the Whatley Center for the Performing Arts on Friday, May 11. This marked the largest graduating class in the history of 91³ÉÈ˵¼º½. During the ceremony, 188 students were awarded associate degrees and 69 earned certificates of competency in their chosen fields. Dr. Melissa Weinbrenner, 91³ÉÈ˵¼º½ Associate Professor of History and Division Director for Social Studies, delivered the commencement address.

Last weekend, 91³ÉÈ˵¼º½ participated in the 2012 Relay for Life at the Mount Pleasant Junior High School track. Despite getting a late start, the 91³ÉÈ˵¼º½ family was able to raise $2,651.31 for the cause. "Estelene Eagle" (AKA Professor Doug Hoppock) won the Mr. Relay competition by a landslide by raising a whopping $1,277.31 towards the total. The 91³ÉÈ˵¼º½ office of Student Activities and Multicultural Affairs has named the Phi Theta Kappa Alpha Mu Chi chapter as the 91³ÉÈ˵¼º½ Outstanding Student Organization for the 2011-2012 school year. This award is given to an official 91³ÉÈ˵¼º½ student organization that displays outstanding contributions to the college, contributions to the community and development of its members. Phi Theta Kappa received a plaque and $250 for their student club account.
