91³ÉÈ˵¼º½ is hosting an area-wide Alphabet Photography Contest that is open to 91³ÉÈ˵¼º½ students, employees and the general public. Cash prizes totaling $500 will be given for winning photographs.




Each photo should creatively depict one letter ? either N, T or C. The winning images will be combined to create artwork that will be displayed on the 91³ÉÈ˵¼º½ campus. All images must be shot on college property†(main campus and/or outreach centers)†and individuals may submit up to four images for consideration.

91³ÉÈ˵¼º½ Honors completes feature-length film

The 91³ÉÈ˵¼º½ Honors Program recently released the first feature-length movie ever directed and produced by 91³ÉÈ˵¼º½ students. The film, "Fredonia: A Tale of East Texas," takes a historic look at the most violent and anarchic period in the history of Northeast Texas.

The film was directed by Presidential Scholar Isaac Griffin, and produced by Presidential Scholar, Whitney McIntosh. The Walter Prescott Webb Society of 91³ÉÈ˵¼º½ Honors supported the production.

Melissa Weinbrenner named 2012 Phi Theta Kappa Faculty Scholar

91³ÉÈ˵¼º½ history professor and Phi Theta Kappa advisor Dr. Melissa Weinbrenner has been chosen to serve as a Phi Theta Kappa 2012 Faculty Scholar. Only 25 instructors were chosen from among nearly 3,000 chapter advisors to receive this honor. The scholars were selected through a rigorous application process based on knowledge of the 2012-2013 Honors Study Topic, "The Culture of Competition,? and demonstrated excellence in teaching or administration.

91³ÉÈ˵¼º½ will be open from 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Jan. 14 to assist students with registration for the Spring 2012 semester. 91³ÉÈ˵¼º½ will have the opportunity to meet with academic advisors, access computers to register online, make payments and receive help with financial aid.

The College Store will also be open during this time to allow students to purchase books and other supplies.

Pianist Thomas Pandolfi to perform at Whatley Center



The Whatley Center for the Performing Arts at 91³ÉÈ˵¼º½ will host virtuoso pianist Thomas Pandolfi on January 26 at 7:30 p.m.

The concert is entitled "Into the Night With Gershwin" and will feature his "Concerto in F" and "Rhapsody in Blue." Pandolfi will also perform his own song medley improvisation and two Etudes based on popular Gershwin songs by Earl Wild.

Tickets are $25 for adults and $5 for students. The event is sponsored by Texas Heritage National Bank.

Seven Eagles named Scholar-Athletes

Seven members of the 2010-2011 91³ÉÈ˵¼º½ softball team were recently named National Fastpitch Coaches Association Scholar Athletes.
Chastin Smiddy, Shelby Perry, Christina Martin, Katelyn Holcomb, Ashley Eaves, April Breshears and Reagan Smith all qualified for the honor after finishing the 2010-2011 academic school year with a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or above.

91³ÉÈ˵¼º½ offers Music Academy for grades K-6

91³ÉÈ˵¼º½ will begin the inaugural semester of the newly formed Northeast Texas Music Academy on January 9 for grades K-6. The academy consists of 22 weeks of instruction, which includes private lessons, theory classes, ensembles and special events.

91³ÉÈ˵¼º½ may receive instruction in one of the following areas: voice, piano, strings (violin, viola, cello) or guitar. Theory classes meet from 5:00-5:30 p.m. one day each week, with a choice of Monday-Wednesday. Ensembles meet Thursdays from 5-6 p.m.
